BTS fans around the world will have to wait longer for the group’s full reunion, as HYBE executives confirm that 2025 may not see the band resuming activities. Despite all members completing military service by mid-2025, the company emphasizes the need for extensive preparation before new music or tours are announced.
Military Service Timeline
All seven BTS members—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—will finish their mandatory military service by June 2025. The oldest member, Jin, was discharged in June 2024, followed by J-Hope in October 2024. The remaining members, including Suga, who served as a social service agent due to a shoulder injury, will complete their duties by June 2025.
HYBE’s Cautious Stance
During HYBE’s annual shareholder meeting, CEO Lee Jae Sang stated that while discussions with top music producers are underway, BTS needs significant time to regroup.
“The members need plenty of time to prepare. Typically, artists work on an album, release it, and then tour. But BTS is a global act, and their next steps require careful evaluation.”
CFO Lee Kyung Joon added that HYBE is still discussing promotion plans for 2026, with no concrete projections yet. This suggests group activities may not resume until then.

- Tour Logistics: Global tours require extensive coordination, especially after a long hiatus.
- Member Readiness: Each member has pursued solo projects, and their vision for BTS’s future must align.
Financial Impact on HYBE
BTS’s absence has affected HYBE’s revenue, with a 25.4% drop in operating profit in Q3 2024. However, the company is diversifying with new artists and business ventures like Weverse and gaming to reduce reliance on BTS.
