Weak Hero Class 2 premieres on Netflix on April 25, 2025, continuing the intense journey of Yeon Si Eun at Eunjang High School. With Park Ji Hoon returning and new actors like Ryeoun and Lee Jun Young joining, the series promises gripping action and emotional depth.

Yeon Si Eun’s Return and New Challenges

Weak Hero Class 2 picks up after the events of the first season, following Yeon Si Eun, a brilliant but physically weak student, as he transfers to Eunjang High School. Haunted by his failure to protect his friend Ahn Su Ho, Si Eun is determined to never lose another ally. The new season introduces fresh allies and formidable enemies, continuing the story from the webtoon Weak Hero by Seopass and Kim Jin Seok. Only Park Ji Hoon returns from the main cast, with a new ensemble bringing the webtoon’s main storyline to life.

Returning Cast and Characters

Park Ji Hoon as Yeon Si Eun

Park Ji Hoon reprises his role as Yeon Si Eun, the intelligent and strategic protagonist who fights bullies using his wits and surroundings. In season 2, Si Eun is colder and more reserved, carrying the trauma of losing Ahn Su Ho.

“I spent a lot of time thinking about whether Yeon Si Eun would be able to make friends again, and how to develop the flow of him meeting new friends. I focused on expressing Si Eun’s desperation through his gaze,” said Park Ji Hoon.

Si Eun faces new challenges at Eunjang High, where he confronts the Alliance, a ruthless gang led by Na Baek Jin. His “brain action” fighting style, combining quick thinking and precise strikes, is upgraded for more intense battles.

Yoo Su Bin as Choi Hyo Man

Yoo Su Bin, who appeared in a guest role in season 1, returns in a larger capacity as Choi Hyo Man, the leader of the first-year class 3 at Eunjang High and head of the delinquent students. Known for roles in Crash Landing on You and Start-Up, Yoo Su Bin brings depth to this antagonistic character, who stirs trouble for Si Eun and his new friends.

New Cast and Characters: Si Eun’s Allies

Ryeoun as Park Hu Min

Ryeoun, recognized for Twinkling Watermelon, plays Park Hu Min, also known as Baku, a strong and just leader at Eunjang High. Standing at 181 cm, Ryeoun fits the webtoon’s depiction of Park Hu Min as a physically imposing yet compassionate figure.

Park Hu Min maintains order at school and becomes a key ally for Si Eun, mirroring the supportive dynamic Si Eun had with Ahn Su Ho in season 1. His sense of justice drives him to stand up for what’s right, making him a pivotal part of the group.

Choi Min Young as Seo Jun Tae

Choi Min Young, known for XO, Kitty and Twenty-Five Twenty-One, portrays Seo Jun Tae, one of Si Eun’s new friends at Eunjang High. Seo Jun Tae is part of the core group that helps Si Eun navigate the school’s violent environment. Choi Min Young’s experience in youth-driven dramas adds authenticity to this role, contributing to the group’s emotional dynamic.

Lee Min Jae as Go Hyun Tak

Lee Min Jae, seen in Crash Course in Romance, takes on the role of Go Hyun Tak, another member of Si Eun’s new circle. Go Hyun Tak brings loyalty and support to the group, helping Si Eun face the challenges at Eunjang High. Lee Min Jae’s prior roles in school settings make him a fitting addition to the cast.

New Cast and Characters: The Antagonists

Bae Na Ra as Na Baek Jin

Bae Na Ra, known for D.P., plays Na Baek Jin, the main antagonist and leader of the Alliance, a gang that dominates the school’s violent hierarchy. Na Baek Jin appears as a model student but hides a ruthless side.

“Na Baek Jin has a sharp mind and excellent fighting skills. I did a lot of research on the action style that is quick and light, yet packs a heavy punch,” said Bae Na Ra.

His dark aura and strategic mind make him a formidable foe for Si Eun.

Lee Jun Young as Geum Seong Je

Lee Jun Young, recognized for When Life Gives You Tangerines, portrays Geum Seong Je (also known as Wolf Keum), a unpredictable villain who lives for thrill and chaos.

“Geum Seong Je is so unpredictable, he could be nicknamed ‘an adrenaline junkie,’” said Lee Jun Young.

His laid-back demeanor and chilling smile add tension to his role as a key member of the Alliance.

Notable Absences from Season 1

Fans have expressed disappointment over the absence of Choi Hyun Wook as Ahn Su Ho and Hong Kyung as Oh Beom Seok. In the webtoon, Ahn Su Ho is part of Si Eun’s backstory and does not appear in the main storyline at Eunjang High, as season 1 served as a prequel. Choi Hyun Wook’s character ended season 1 in a coma, and Netflix has not confirmed his return, aligning with the webtoon’s narrative.

“I want Ahn Su Ho back. They are the best of friends. And they have each other’s back. Please don’t remove Ahn Su Ho’s character,” said a fan on AsianWiki.
“I am so excited for class 2, but please bring back the duo of Suho and Sieun. I will cry if Suho doesn’t wake up,” another fan commented.

Oh Beom Seok, played by Hong Kyung, was taken away by his father’s secretary after season 1’s events, and his absence in season 2 follows the webtoon’s shift to new characters. Fans have also speculated about Jin Ga Yul (Gerard), a key webtoon character known as “Mushroom Head,” but no casting for this role has been announced, raising concerns about his inclusion.

Production and Webtoon Connection

Directed by Yoo Su Min and produced by Han Jun Hee, Weak Hero Class 2 stays true to the webtoon’s gritty themes of bullying, friendship, and survival. The series, filmed from July to August 2024, features eight episodes, each around 60 minutes, rated 18+ for violence and profanity.

The show’s action choreography, led by Heo Myeong Haeng (Vincenzo), promises intense fight scenes. Park Ji Hoon lost over 10 pounds for season 1 to match Si Eun’s frail appearance and trained extensively for the action sequences, a commitment likely continued for season 2.

While season 1 was a prequel, season 2 aligns more closely with the webtoon’s main plot, introducing characters like Park Hu Min and Na Baek Jin. However, some creative liberties may be taken, as seen in season 1’s changes to Ahn Su Ho’s character.

Fan Reactions and Expectations

Fans are thrilled about the new cast but nostalgic for season 1’s trio. Social media reflects mixed emotions:

“Weak Hero Class 2.sezon için Netflix ile anlaşmış abi bu kadro şaka mı harika Park Jihoon, Ryeoun, Choi Minyoung, Lee Minjae, Bae Nara, Yoo Subin, Lee Junyoung… Off bide bunların hepsi badboy falan olacak dizide ortalık alev alacak,” posted a user on X.
“So no Suho and Beomseok…” lamented another fan, highlighting concerns about missing characters.

The teaser, released on April 2, 2025, has heightened excitement, showcasing Si Eun’s arrival at Eunjang High and hinting at explosive action. Fans expect the series to maintain its raw portrayal of bullying and emotional storytelling.
