South Korean actress Choi Yeo Jin has announced legal action against malicious rumors involving her fiancé, director Kim Jae Wook, and his ex-wife, addressing false claims in a detailed YouTube video.

On April 22, Choi Yeo Jin posted a video on her YouTube channel to clarify and deny multiple rumors that surfaced after her engagement news. She explained that the false stories included accusations of an affair, cult connections, and financial motives for her marriage.

Choi is set to marry Kim Jae Wook, a non-celebrity director, in June. While this is her first marriage, Kim was previously married, and old footage from a variety show featuring Choi, Kim, and his ex-wife sparked speculation. Some online comments even linked them to a religious group, which Choi strongly denied.

In the video, Choi shared that her close friend Bae Jung Nam warned her about the rumors, saying he almost believed them himself. She admitted she initially ignored the situation but decided to speak up after even friends began questioning her.

One viral YouTube video falsely connected Kim and his ex-wife to a cult due to the name “Club Eden.” Choi clarified, “The name is being misinterpreted. I’m not religious, and my fiancé only goes to church. There’s no cult link.”

She also debunked claims that she was detained or had her phone confiscated, showing her phone on camera. Another rumor suggested a birthday crown Kim wore was cult-related. Choi responded, “It was a cheap party crown bought online for 10,680 KRW. That’s not evidence of anything.”

The religious group mentioned in the rumors reportedly contacted Choi, asking her to publicly deny any association. They have also taken legal action, leading to some YouTube videos being removed.

Choi denied living with Kim and his ex-wife, explaining she stayed in a separate house on a sports facility property where she trained. She also corrected claims that she called Kim’s parents “mom” and “dad,” stating she only said they treated her like family.

Addressing rumors of a fight with Kim’s ex-wife, Choi said, “There was no fight, not even once.” She also dismissed accusations that her gratitude toward Kim’s ex-wife was sarcastic.

Regarding criticism of her relationship, Choi acknowledged that online narratives can be misleading but urged people to look deeper. She also denied marrying for money, saying, “If I wanted wealth, I would have married in my twenties when I had many offers.”

Choi ended the video with a firm warning: “These false rumors must stop. I don’t want to take legal action, but I will if necessary.”
