JYP Entertainment issued a formal apology after DAY6’s Jakarta concert on May 3, 2025, was marred by organizational failures, severe weather, and fan protests. The event, part of the band’s 3rd World Tour Forever Young, faced delays, safety concerns, and widespread criticism due to poor coordination with the local promoter, Mecima Pro.

Venue Change Sparks Initial Frustration

The concert was originally planned for the Jakarta International Stadium but was moved to the Gelora Bung Karno Madya Stadium in March 2025. Mecima Pro cited a scheduling conflict with a football match, but fans later learned the match was canceled, raising suspicions about the promoter’s transparency.

The new venue, an open-roof stadium, worried fans due to Jakarta’s unpredictable weather. The switch also led to altered seating arrangements and higher ticket prices for some categories, with no refund options offered. This lack of flexibility frustrated many My Day, the name for DAY6 fans, who felt their concerns were ignored.

Fans voiced their discontent online, with some creating petitions for refunds. One fan wrote on X:

“They are a lot. They didn’t come in to the venue not bcs they can not make it. But they wont do it. They’re trapped by the promotor refund system that stuck, and didnt get their money back.”

Another added:

“INTERNATIONAL MYDAYS WANTED TO GO TO THIS ADDITIONAL SHOW BECAUSE MECIMA CLAIMED IT WAS DAY6’s FIRST STADIUM CONCERT AND AN ENCORE! WHAT A SCAM.”

Severe Weather and Safety Failures

On May 3, 2025, heavy rain and strong winds hit Jakarta, worsening the situation. Fans waited outside for hours under temporary tents, some of which collapsed under rainwater. Videos showed torn tent roofs and water pouring onto the crowd, creating dangerous conditions.

Other issues included fallen signboards, electrical short circuits, and malfunctioning DAY6 instruments. Expired snacks were also reportedly distributed, adding to fan dissatisfaction. The concert, scheduled to start earlier, was delayed until around 8:30 PM WIB.

JYP Entertainment acknowledged these failures in their apology, stating:

“Due to unsmooth operations while working with the local promoter to resolve issues, the on-site response and safety measures during adverse weather conditions were insufficient, resulting in delays to the sound check and the start of the main performance compared to the original schedule.”

Fans protested outside the venue, chanting against Mecima Pro. Viral videos captured the crowd’s anger, with one clip showing fans shouting “MECIMA BUBAR” (disband Mecima). Another post on X stated:

“THIS IS WHAT THE PROMOTER DIDN’T SHOW YOU @jypnation @day6official@LiveNation @LiveNationKpop FANS LEFT OUTSIDE THE VENUE. NO REFUND AFTER THE CONCERT WAS MOVED FROM JIS TO MADYA.”

JYP’s Apology and Fan Reactions

On May 4, 2025, JYP Entertainment released a statement on DAY6’s official X account, taking responsibility for the chaos. They apologized to fans and the band members, who performed despite the challenges.

“We sincerely apologize to the fans who experienced inconvenience while waiting for a long time in bad weather, and also to the artists who did their best for the fans despite the difficult circumstances. We feel a heavy sense of responsibility regarding this matter.”

The agency promised to improve coordination and ensure safer, more comfortable concerts in the future. However, fans felt the apology focused too much on weather issues and not enough on Mecima Pro’s long-standing mismanagement.

One fan commented on X:

“We appreciate JYP’s apology, but most issues at DAY6’s Jakarta concert were due to MECIMAPRO’s poor management, not just the weather‼️”

Another wrote:

“Oh God, so you apologizing JUST FOR the problems during the day of the concert? NOT THE PROBLEMS FAR BEFORE THE CONCERT?”

Fans also criticized Mecima Pro for not issuing an apology. The promoter’s Instagram comment section was closed, and their only statement was a brief X post about the delay, which read:

“Due to the weather conditions, the concert will be postponed. We are currently doing final preparations and will soon start the show.”

DAY6’s Efforts Amid Chaos

Despite the turmoil, DAY6—consisting of Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon—delivered a performance that fans praised. Wonpil was seen apologizing onstage, saying, “I’m sorry,” while other members reportedly engaged in heated discussions with organizers backstage to address the situation.

Fans defended the band, emphasizing that the issues were not their fault. One X user wrote:

“i cant stand the members being confused, crying, apologetic like this when promotor didn’t give proper treatment for both artist and fans.”

Another added:

“this mustve been exhausting mentally and physically to everyone involved (not u melani babi) i hope everyone get their well deserved rest and i hope day6 know that this protest isnt for them.”

Broader Issues with Mecima Pro

The Jakarta concert wasn’t the first time Mecima Pro faced criticism. Fans pointed to a history of problems, including sudden ticketing announcements and unprofessional communication. One X post summarized the promoter’s actions:

“Ticketing mendadak. Tanggal 26 Des 2024 announce konser, lalu ticketing.”

Another user alleged inappropriate comments from the promoter, stating:

“Promotor sexualized member Day6 dg komen ‘member kehujanan jadi seksi’.”

Fans demanded that JYP Entertainment stop working with Mecima Pro, with one writing:

“HEAR MY DAY VOICES! CHOOSE REPUTABLE LOCAL PROMOTER FOR BETTER FUTURE CONCERT!”

Current Developments

As of May 5, 2025, Mecima Pro has not issued a formal apology or addressed the financial disputes, including an estimated ₩330,000,000 owed to around 1,900 fans for ticket-related issues. Fans continue to protest online, using hashtags like #MECIMA_NOT_PROfessional to highlight their grievances.
