JTBC’s new fantasy romance drama Heavenly Ever After has viewers talking after its latest episode featured a surprising love triangle in heaven. Han Ji Min’s character, Som Yi, caused a stir by embracing Son Suk Ku’s character, Go Nak Joon, in front of his wife, played by Kim Hye Ja. The emotional confrontation has set the stage for a unique afterlife love story .

Reunion Turns Complicated

Heavenly Ever After follows Lee Hae Sook (Kim Hye Ja), an 80-year-old woman who dies and reunites with her late husband, Go Nak Joon (Son Suk Ku), in the afterlife. Unlike most residents of heaven, who choose to return to their younger selves, Hae Sook decides to keep her elderly appearance. Meanwhile, Nak Joon reverts to his 30-year-old self, creating an unusual dynamic between the couple .

The drama takes a dramatic turn when Som Yi (Han Ji Min), a mysterious woman with no memories except Nak Joon’s name, suddenly appears at their heavenly home. In newly released stills, Som Yi rushes to hug Nak Joon, leaving Hae Sook visibly shocked and jealous. The tension escalates as Nak Joon appears flustered, while Som Yi remains oblivious to the emotional impact of her actions .

Hae Sook’s choice to remain elderly in heaven stems from her husband’s past words: “You were beautiful in your twenties, in your thirties, and now, at eighty, you’re the most beautiful of all!” However, her confidence wavers when she sees Nak Joon’s youthful appearance and the attention he receives from younger women in the afterlife .

In a teaser, Nak Joon reassures her, saying, “It doesn’t matter whether you’re 25 years old or 80. To me, you’re just the same Lee Hae Sook.” Despite his efforts, Hae Sook struggles with jealousy, especially when Som Yi enters the picture .

Han Ji Min’s Mysterious Role

Han Ji Min’s character, Som Yi, adds intrigue to the story. With no memories except Nak Joon’s name, her sudden attachment to him raises questions about their past connection. Director Kim Suk Yoon, who has worked with Han Ji Min multiple times, described her role as pivotal to the drama’s emotional depth .

The actress shared her excitement about the project:
“When I received the script, I stayed up all night reading it because it was so engaging. The concept of choosing the age you want to remember most in heaven felt very special.” .
